Mps Conference on Devolution

Speaker of the National Assembly Kenneth Marende says Kenyans with relevant qualifications should be bold enough to compete for elective seats in County Governments as it will no longer be the preserve of a few. Speaking at a workshop on devolution in Nairobi, Marende urged Members of Parliament to play a key role in educating Kenyans on the importance of devolving power and services to the counties. Experts have warned that Kenyans risk sinking deeper into poverty if they elect incompetent county leaders.
