I’m really hoping that the first library list was a case of “mixed up recommendations requests”! Not only for the obvious reason, but also because imagining the face of the person searching for their next western/cartel/etc series to dive into but just opening their email to find deceit-less LGBTQIA2S+ stand alone novella recs gave me a good chuckle 😂

Honestly, the librarian reccs sound like your request and someone else's got mixed up, bc as a librarian we take much more care with book requests than that list seemed to show!

Getting a paperback classic in a book box is the worst. I understand if it's a special edition but a cheap paperback that, like you said, you can find in a thrift store- just arrghh!

A year later I’m watching this from the southern United States. Several states and/or counties are banning most every book dealing with ethnic pride, women’s rights and birth choices, racial issues, the LGBTQ+ community and anything else the government thinks we should not read. It’s just crazy.

Just from a librarian perspective: Hopefully the first librarian selection was a mix up, but they probably put in one theme word in a book database service they use for Readers Advisory and listed whatever popped up, hence why an author was on there twice.
