Ted Turner: A dreamer, not a quitter

You need a wide lens on your camera to capture the many sides of Ted Turner, especially out on his sprawling, 113,000-acre ranch near Bozeman, Montana. Owner of a TV station and sports franchises, creator of CNN, America's Cup yacht racer, rancher, environmental advocate, and politically incorrect mouthpiece, Turner sits down with Special Contributor Ted Koppel for a candid discussion about how he fulfilled more ambitions than many people could ever dream of, and how, nearing 80, he is facing a decline brought about by Lewy body dementia.

The Teds:Turner and Koppel. Both men are inspirations in their own ways. Fantastic interview. Mr.Koppell, you are a fine example of an honest, patient, gentle journalist.

Little known fact about Ted. He has donated A live bison (buffalo) to the Univ of Colorado for many years as our mascot. Currently on Ralphie V. Thank you Ted.

This was hard to watch, but I'm glad I saw it. My heart goes out to him and his loved ones. LBD is a horrifying disease.

I met Ted Turner on the sidewalk in downtown Atlanta in the early 90's. He was so funny, kind and gracious to me and was a good enough sport to pose for a picture with a bunch of giggling teenage girls. I hate to see him the way he is now. That mischievous twinkle is missing from his eyes.

At 7:00, the piece shows why it's okay for our laws to emphasize environmental protections and preservations. Natural land like that is how we feed and take care of ourselves. Without that, we would never have our daily essential resources. It's okay to have restrictions against contaminants that hurt our lands.

My husband was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia about two years ago. It's more than anything, visual spatial problems and hallucinations. The forgetfulness is short-term forgetting like in the middle of a story he knows so well. It is fatal, just can't put a time line on it. My husband has gone from being able to drive to now needing me to dress him.

You have the courage of a warrior and the words of a poet. God Bless you Mr
Turner you're an inspiration to many. I loved your nic-name "mouth of the south" and you are a stand out student from McCallie High School. Hang in there Sir...🌺

makes me wonder if his father had Lewy Body Dementia ~ and how many others have suffered and still suffer, being misdiagnosed or not diagnosed at all. this was a well done profile. nice work ted koppel and cbs this morning. a stark reminder: age and disease are not bound by gender; social class; ethnicity; or affiliation.
