Disappointed in the normally long-term thinking Jared Bernstein. It IS possible for both GM et al AND the UAW to be doing ‘wrong’ things for the long-term health of the American economy and American workers- and that’s what’s happening here. The top American cos making the most ‘made in America’ cars in the top ten are ALL NON-UAW Teslas; and those Teslas are much more innovative, and of higher quality, than what the UAW/GM builds- and the workers don’t get paid as much (but are hardly slaves; get stock options). UAW is a strongly anti-innovation organization- and Jared doesn’t address that.
