For the flashback alone Skypiea deserves a high rank. Noland is honestly such a great character. Certainly in my top 5 flashbacks of the story.

Slandering Vivi makes no sense. Sure she may not be all that strong, but she was an extremely competent spy. Something that isn't brought up enough is that she succeeded in her goal to uncover the plans and identity of the head of Baroque Works.

Arlong Park/Cocoyashi is the arc that got me hooked. It went from being more carefree and episodic to a more emotional story with deeper themes popping up. Plus, Nami crying and Luffy being there regardless of why was amazing. Makes me tear up every time and makes me want to fight someone too. It was that good both sub and dub

The biggest problem with Alabasta is Pell. His sacrifice was great, but bringing him back for no reason was a rare slip on Oda's part

I totally agree about thriller bark. This arc made me laugh soooo much. Sanji teasing zoro with cerberus and robin laughing was the best. And just Luffy as usual... And the first group effort against one giant monster was fire.

Alabasta was the proto Yonko arc which makes sense since at the beginning Oda thought he only had 5 years for the story so he didn't even think of the 7 warlords at the beginning.
I think its likely that he had planed for one of the Yonko to be the opposition instead of Croc.

Found it kinda interesting that Whitebeard had two commanders that looked like food.
You had Marco who’s head looks like a pineapple, and you had Ace the donut chest

I'm so surprised every time I hear people not enjoying the Syrup Village arc as much as I did. To me it was the arc that truly established what One Piece was. Silly, goofy moments and quirky characters, a truly terrifying villain, characters with determination and the will to fight for what they believe in with all they have and the bonds between people...In retrospect the scales were much lower than what we see these days of course, but it was just as personal. I suffered right along with Kaya thoughout all of this and I was so incredibly impressed with Usopp who wasn't an experienced fighter or exceptionally strong and barely got to show off his true sniping skills but who still did everything in his power to protect Kaya, the kids and his village. Up until this point I had casually enjoyed One Piece but wasn't really invested. That arc? That changed everything for me and I was hooked.
And Lysop became and stayed my favourite character up until the timeskip.

Thank you for the video Jack, it was a lot of fun to hear your thoughts and impressions on it as someone who is still newer to the fandom compared to those of us who have been here from the start :D

Jack enjoying Thriller Bark and Skypiea so much gives me hope for everything post TS. Because Fishman Island, PH, D, WCI and even WK... they all drag soooo so much! The only ones that don't are Return to Sabaody, Zou and Reverie and they are all just 5-15 episodes each...

Thriller bark is not my favorite arc but to me it’s the funniest. I don’t know how many times I laughed out loud having to pause. The humor is so silly and so good!

Thriller Bark above Enies Lobby is absolutely wild it was a chore to sit through that arc 😂
