It's not about the exes of magnus its about his immortality, alec feel so scared that someday eventually after he was died magnus just moved on and he just became a memory to magnus..it really breaks.my heart these two are fighting again they just got back together in ep 20 of season 2 pls director and writer don't break my heart too much..😭😭

Alec thinking about immortality means he really really love Magnus, and has thought about building their future together and the fact that one of them will grow old without the other makes him sad.... and tbh makes me super sad, but it's why their love is so tragically beautiful. I haven't read the books and don't want spoilers, so don't tell me if they've found a way to be together forever (as I'm planning on reading the books)

I understand Alec's insecurity and fear but at the same time, Magnus does a service to his relationships by keeping those mementos. It's better than him never honoring their love. If, in the future, Alec does die, would he rather Magnus eventually forget him or for Magnus to remember?

This makes me uncomfortable but I still am kinda proud because he brought it up at last. He apologized even though he didn't need to. Magnus wouldn't bring it on but Alec did and that was sorta brave but I still wanna punch him because he opened that goddamn box. Why Alec, why?!?
