Everyone copes in their own way and people have to understand that leukemia is not necessarily a death sentence, with some cases having super high remission rates with proper treatment.

Mine went under remission after almost a year of chemo and stem cell transfussions. You dont have to put your life on hold and be depressed 24/7, you keep moving forward, be diligent with your treatment and deal with the side effects later.
