Lovely dear great teaching style in very easy manner and through knowledge of pacing

Thanks for posting. Yes, 30 mA is a very low voltage to capture, but the basic idea is clear. Thanks again!

Are'nt you meant to get QRS complexes after each pacing spike to ascertain capture?

Great video btw

Apart form she didn't get capture. The pacing spike and a complex almost lined up once, there was not capture. Like others have said could be due to the manikin though.

thx, helped me with preparing for USMLE step 3. Appreciate it.

Overall not a bad presentation but two important things. 1) She did not have electrical capture as displayed on the video. With external pacing electrical capture produces a wide QRS with a T wave that swings in the opposite direction. 2) A starting rate of 60 beats per minute is usually better to allow for better assessment of the hearts response the the stimulus. Once capture is confirmed on the screen and a palpable more rapid pulse verifies this, you can later increase the rate as needed.

Don't forget to choose your EKG source since it is defaulted to the pads.

LIVE PACK 20. I felt spoiled with the 15...

she hasn't quite got capture. Nice clear presentation, just needs to increase the Jules until there is a QRS after each spike. (I suspect in this case the manaquin she is using doesn't have an option to set a threshold to capture - so no matter how high she goes with Jules she wont get capture).

As per other comments, nice clear demonstration but a shame the current was not increased to the point where capture was actuallyachieved - in this video it isn't. Each pacing spike should be followed by a QRS, and normally the output is increased by 10mA once capture has been achieved just to ensure a safety buffer. Also, don't forget that this procedure is painful, so pain relief/sedation for the patient may be appropriate.

@eshadesu Sorry, clearly I mean mA not Jules...

This video did show 100% capture of the QRS.

Increase your milliamps until you get 100% "capture" and then add another 10% of the value. Ie 100% capture at 50mAs then your settings should be at 55mAs.

this is indeed the essence. Therefore I would not recommend this video.
