Absolute Value Inequalities Word Problems | Algebra 2 Exercises

We solve four absolute value inequality word problems. In each case we have to write an absolute value inequality to model the situation in the word problem. We'll then rewrite each absolute value inequality without the absolute value and solve for the variable to get an inequality telling us the acceptable values of the variable. Remember the absolute value of a-b, as in |a-b|, is the distance between a and b. #algebra2 #algebra

Suppose that you are allowed to drive within 5 mph of the speed limit of 30 mph without getting a ticket. Write an absolute value inequality that models this situation.

A football used in an NFL game must have an air pressure of 13 psi +- 0.5. Write an absolute value inequality that models the range of acceptable air pressures then solve the inequality for the air pressure.
