This is probably the most healthy relationship break up I've seen in a drama series. The female lead is self aware enough to know that their relationship won't get better because of the paths these two follow. They love each but like most of us know, love is just not enough to sustain a relationship. This is an amazing series.

If you think of how much she had to deal with her own mother always being busy and never being there when Heedo needed her, it makes sense that she would quickly grow lonely between the constant lateness, the constant apologizes, but despite that she wanted to stay in the relationship because she really loves him.
But the last hit was when he had applied for a NY position without even working it out with her. He had refused to communicate his feelings after she had told him that she would be there for him through thick and thin, and she realized that her support wasn't reaching him anymore. I think Heedo was right to think of breaking up, especially if Yijin was going to leave for America afterwards. In many situations, people wait for their loved ones to come back, but there was no actually confirmation to her that Yijin was going to come back to Korea to spend time with her and to be her boyfriend. She wasn't being selfish at all, she was being reasonable.
A relationship is a two way street, a give and take, and heedo kept giving and giving and giving. This was her limit and it happens.


On that note, OMFG IM SO SAD I KNOW WHAT I JUST SAID BUT STILL I CAN'T I LOVED THEIR RELATIONSHIP SO BUT THEY BROKE UP AND I JUST WANT TO LIKE GLUE THEM BACK TOGETHER-

I’m sad about the ending but the way this show portrays such a simple relationship, showing their true support for one another until time and distance result in the end… even though its not too dramatic of a reason the realism of the show causes this to hit hard…
Also the comparisons between Jiwoong/Yurim vs Baekdo can kinda be seen; both struggled with distance but Jiwoong was extremely commited to her and didn’t have an overflowing busy schedule (even if he did, they shared stuff and got over things together) however yijin was “mature” and didn’t want to burden heedo; he made himself busy and took the position because I feel like on the inside he wanted to create a distance between the two to protect her from any more heartbreak/disappointment, he wanted her to leave him and not worry about him but disregarded his true feelings… they both loved their partners but had different ways of showing it which led to different outcomes

Heedo loves yijin so much, at the same time she knows that she needs to be happy for them to be happy. She can be selfish by asking yijin to stop being an announcer, yet she knew yijin mission thus choosing the best option that she had.

The hard part is that their relationship is broken because of them both. It is just that they are not deeply and really helping their relationship to be strong especially in the times of neglects and misunderstanding. Both of their pride overflow. It is just that they are not match and meant to be.

How come people are blaming hee do this much here? Yijin was the one who avoided the communication, he never managed to open up. I went through something similar situation and I know. Sometimes it doesn’t help, nothing reaches you. You don't want to talk with people, you don't want to reach out to them. But I never sought self justification for that. Because I know that it is unfair to the other person from the very beginning. It's just sometimes time is not in our side. Here it was never hee do's fault.

Yijin did not put any effort after reading her diary. He was like 'Heedoya loved me and I love her too. So Anways bye'. If he actually wanted to continue the relationship he would have communicated and committed to her more. He didn't. Beck Yijin did not love Heedoya as much Heedo loved him. He didn't even want to meet her when he came to Korea before they broke up. He didn't even go see her after reading her diary or even give it to her. When he came back to Korea he wanted to avoid meeting Heedo. He only confronted her when she refused to see him. I felt like Yijin only wanted Heedo when he was low in life. But once He got a ststus He no longer wanted to work for that love. Yijin did love her but not as much Heedo loved him. He did not prioritize her lile she prioritized him. Soon it started hurting Heedo coz she was the only one in the relationship. It takes 2 work it out. And it gets worse coz Yijin did the sake thing Heedo's mother did to her. Ignore her whilst Knowing how much it hurt her. And why didn't he talk to her when he came to Korea. Beck Yijin always needs her to come to him. He can't make a damn effort. If he loved her so much, why didn't he even introduce his parents to her? During his darkest times, Na Heedo was his light. But once he was cleared of all that, he didn't find Heedo to be that dazzling. She broke up first but he didn't do much. He could have given her diary back himself. And told her he would still commit to her. Instead he waits for her to do something. I know people got toiched and emotional on seeing Beck Yijin open an old email with Na Heedo's name. But that password was made years ago. From when he was in love with her. Her name wasn't even the password. But the password confirmation question. He doesn't even visit that site, so it was never updated. That wasn't him hanging onto their love. That was just a technical coincidence.
