The most interesting thing about Levistus' imprisonment I heard is that it also places him under a geas: to help those stuck or imprisoned escape when they ask him to. Forced to provide for others what he cannot do for himself

Getting *hard* flashbacks to the Glasya video, which remains one of my favorites.

And taking, from the information in this, the implication that Levistus has *always* been defined largely by his punishment, and thus his relation to her.

Which feels appropriate, somehow. Remembering the Book of Vile Darkness too, Levistus is mechanically one of the most lethal Archdevils to try and engage, an expert dextrous warrior. But he's stuck forever in place. His realm of Stygia contains multitudes and whole divine realms...but it is a lesser version of Cania.

And his schemes and followers have terrible consequences and powers...but they pale compared to those of other Archfiends.

His whole existence is defined by *other* creatures.

My head cannon is that Levistus signed a pact with Asmodeus for a promotion and the ousting of the old guard, in exchange for his imprisonment to make it seem like he is being punished. Levistus is currently trying to find loopholes around that pact to indirectly free himself.
