I remember this incident from the time when I was still in school. There was a female dog in my neighbourhood and at that time she gave birth to 6 pups. Seeing how there were too small and their mother also looked underfed, I started giving them food after coming back from school. I liked those pups a lot, especially the female pup was my favourite. The problem wasn’t that I saw kids in my neighbourhood playing with them sometimes, rather how they treated them. I was also a (teenage) kid back then but I knew this much that if you hit pups with a ball/rock/stick or grab their necks and rub their heads into the ground (this is what assault looks like to me) obviously they would feel pain and in defence they might even attack. Sometimes when I visited them when those kids were playing with them, I used to see pups shouting in pain and I felt so bad for them that I tried to stop the kids but they didn't listen to me and then one day, one of the pups bit one of those kids (he got what he deserved honestly🫤, what do you even expect?). The kid's parents took all those pups away (I don't know where but I was really sad that I even cried when I returned from school that day, only to see the pups weren't there at their usual place). I told my parents about how much I loved and cared for them but how cruel just everyone involved in that matter is (even my parents were supportive of me in feeding them and sometimes cleaning them on weekends) I felt sorry for their mom (female dog) who lost her kids. I am not saying that sometimes some strays do not go crazy and attack for no reason. That is another case (of rabid dogs or maybe another poor fella who got tortured by people that now he is scared of humans). But how many of us do even know how to treat animals properly and what do we even teach our kids? There’s lack of awareness I see.

IMPORTANT: Jitna feeding important hai, Utna important hai unko operate (neuter/spay) karvana. Otherwise dogs ka population will 📈. Aur takleef dogs ko he hogi: rains, kadak dhup, no house, no food, gadi ke neeche aa jana 😢

Feed the stray dogs by taking them to a shelter or your own home... Don't feed them near anyone's premises making them the target of the dogs

These things are not the solution.
Solution is there should be a designated shelter for dogs outside the city. And dog lovers and government must finance it.
Otherwise the dogs suffer in the city, people will always choose humans over dogs..
An abused dog will always be cautious and may bite in self defense or instict.
Many people who have never had a pet and are bitten will never like street dogs around them..
So it is a problem. A social problem.
