for me the most underrated pedal is a graphic EQ. Especially when applied to the clean signal before amp overdrive. such a powerful tone shaping tool. I did not know a volume pedal could be used so creatively though. this is sick

You can also place it in the unused effects loop of your band member's amp. When he gets too loud, you simply lower his volume while he can't figure out what is happening.

Volume pedals can really elevate the way your playing sounds, especially in ambient/worship stuff with lots of reverb and delay. Definitely a vital part of my rig

If your band used a click, you can put the volume pedal after a looper to cut the signal and bring it back in to play the 2nd guitar part overtop the first for Chorus and solo

Yes, you could have a whole section of volume pedals between your other pedals and also some of your other pedals. You can have expression pedals as well to do various other things in your rig in your setup. Enjoy and have fun. God bless

It’s important to know about impedance. You need a high impedance pedal if you’re going straight from guitar… but a low impedance if you’re using it after a buffer or after an effect that is on. Some pedals, like the EHX, are switchable and you can use them anywhere.

at the top of the chain, you lose gain into the distortion as yo back down the pedal.. so it actually acts like the gain on the distortion.... worth mentioning. At the end, it is basically a master volume, yet will have the same effect on the amps gain, that you will notice the more the amp is set to distort.

Set your minimum volume on the pedal for verses and then fade-up into chorus sections to give your singer a chance.

Using it before an Envelope Filter can create some very groovy sounds too. Play a repeating phrase and slowly swell up the volume 👌

2 volume pedals is the answer. 1 behind your drives to cut the hiss and 1 after your delays/verbs to cut trails. If you only have 1, I’d lean after the drives

Put it at the end of the chain for an effects loop volume, this way your pedals always see the proper volume and you can play your effects with less volume but the same intensity.

Volume pedals are really cool. I have two in my chain, one after all of my overdrive/distortion effects, and then another one at the end of my chain which follows my modulation effects/delay etc.
