China's Xi speaks with Zelensky for first time since Russia's invasion of Ukraine

Russia says it 'notes' Chinese efforts to initiate a negotiation process after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called China's President Xi Jinping.

The Kremlin said it appreciated every effort that attempts to bring an end to what it called the 'conflict' in Ukraine. But it repeated that any resolution would have to be on Russia's terms, which would involve ceding the four eastern regions of Ukraine, as well as Crimea, to Russia.
