At the height of their popularity in the mid 1980's, came 'Dare Me' by The Pointer Sisters. The group had been everywhere since late 1983's multi million seller 'Break Out' and before all the hit singles had left the pop charts, their next album 'Contact' surfaced and with it this first single which would be their last Top 20 hit in America and their last major hit downunder where it performed one point higher when it reached #10 in the last third of 1985. For me, 'Contact' was the very essence of the sisters best work - sassy, catchy, soulful and very danceable! Over the decades they dabbled in many different genres, but the Richard Perry produced albums gave the Pointers their most recognizable and successful run of releases. I have a real fondness for 1975's 'Fairytale' and 1980's 'He's so shy', but they have recorded so many great pop gems. I never tire of listening to either the powerful lead vocals or the exquisite harmonies that June, Ruth and Anita (and originally Bonnie; now Issa; after June's death) always bring to their sessions.
