South Korea has one of the most heavily fortified borders in the world. Every year, "able-bodied" South Korean men up to the age of 35 must serve in the military for around two years.

South Korea also has imprisoned the highest number of conscientious objectors. There are no civil alternatives for men who reject the military based on their personal beliefs.

Meet Kim Min, a conscientious objector.

It's so odd that there isn't an alternative - I agree with him and the court order saying it's unconstitutional for there not to be an alternative. Where I am, while drafts are technically mandatory, people like the Amish don't ever serve because of religious reasons.

Everyone has a RIGHT to refuse service in war machines. I got out as a CO in 2003 - CalGuard as i hated it and what they were doing, i turned against war altogether so should we all.

conscientious objector?

I cant use my phone, go on holiday and what not. Yes the military can be Spartan.

Sounds more like an upper middle class only child than a
conscientious thing.

I was in the us army and would advise anyone from joining, but this guy is not a hero.
