The long shadow of the COVID-19 that hit the world in 2020 is still casting over the global economy. Major institutions project that the global economic growth rate will hover around 3% in the years to come. Among the countries facing distinctive challenges is South Korea. Although it once emerged as a major economic power with rapid growth, it now confronts a concept termed ‘Peak Korea,’ characterized by ultra-low fertility, aging population, and a zenith in population. The time calls for a fundamental solution to overcome the era of structural low growth.

In this session, Professor Paul Romer, 2018 Nobel Laureate in Economics and a master of economic growth theory, will explore the possibilities of a new growth model suitable for the techno big bang era. In dialogue with KDI President Cho Dong-chul, he will discuss the implications of his endogenous growth theory, which underscores the interplay between technological innovation and growth, This discussion encompasses nations undergoing rapid industrial structural change, such as Korea, elucidating how economic policy orientations and supportive measures should be effectively enacted. #paulvolcker #endogenousgrowth #paulromer

9:37 "...avoid the consensus based comittee solution".
Agreed, if we are talking about a commitee, a small group of colaborators. But the democratic element must never be overseen, forgotten. The population must approve, that´s the key for success.
