During the time I was the lead vocalist of the Seattle band PHOENIXX in 1988, I was contacted by James Byrd (of Fifth Angel) and asked to consider forming a new band. James had heard a recording of another previous band of mine called DANGER CITY, and liked the vocal style he heard. Over the next several months James and I had written & recorded demo's for an album worth of material- and got representation to shop our new band ATLANTIS RISING. We were pleased to have Ken Mary (Alice Cooper, House of lords, Fifth Angel) handling our drum duties. We soon secured a recording contract with Schrapnel Records/Mike Varney. Our first album was recorded at Michael Lord Productions in Seattle in 1989 and released by Schrapnel in 1990. It was also distributed by Roadrunner Records in Europe and Jigu Records in Asia. This album did quite well in Europe, and charted at #13 in Japan. We had also recorded a second album of material that went unreleased- until 2011 when "Beyond the Pillars" finally saw worldwide availability through Lion Music.
The original first album ATLANTIS RISING was:
Freddy Krumins / All Vocals
James Byrd / Guitars
Ken Mary / Drums
Evan Sheeley / Bass Guitar & Keyboards
