This is such a great jacket for city life and outdoors. It'll keep you dry and warm and looking good too!

A.K.A - The Bear. My absolute favorite piece of clothing I own at the moment! It's warm and cozy with a big hood and some really handy pockets.

The perfect mix of style and function. They look like jeans but perform like outdoor pants. Stretchy fabric with a water-resistant treatment means I can play outside with my son in these in perfect comfort.

You are becoming a real Finn: actually avoiding people instead of asking if they have a lighter or matches

Thats Finland baby, you can drive 30 minutes into any direction and end up somewhere beautiful.

There's also some old (stone age) rock paintings in Repovesi. They are not easy to see but just knowing they are there makes you think. You are probably not the only person ever to have struggled with making a fire with wood only in that place! :)

06:08 My husband works for Finnish Defence Forces, and that's why we live in Kouvola. (I would love to stay in Helsinki with many of my friends for sure, but Helsinki is so expensive. 😅)

Repo / repolainen is old Finnish word for fox. In Estonian language fox is rebane. Actually word kettu meant skin / fur but later that changed to mean that animal.

You seem to me really Finnish guy. You could have asked those other visitors to get some fire but like a Finn you didn't go even close ;) I think people in hiking places usually are super friendly and will help if you have any problems.

You should contact different cities around Finland for a collab and do a Finnish travel series. I think your point of view is kinda uniq since you are a foreigner but you have lived in Finland for a long time.

I had a Finnish boyfriend and lived in Finland for a year. I sometimes miss it or I am nostalgic for it and again seeing the beautiful nature and I lovee listening to the Finnish language.

to be fair (or unfair) Kouvola didn't used to have repovesi. Before 2009 municipal mergers Kouvola was just the town center

Dave has become a true finn, doesn't want to bother other hikers for a match or a lighter.

“I didn’t bring any matches or a lighter to start my little gas stove … There’s a couple other people here … maybe I can steal some of their embers” BECAUSE GOD FORBID YOU JUST ASK THEM FOR FIRE-MAKING TOOLS

Finnish stamp of approval. You’ve learned well.

For your next visit in Repovesi I recommend a couple hour stop in Arboretum Mustila, its about 50km from Repovesi towards Helsinki. Especially during early June there is very beautiful rhododendrons (Alppiruusu). I suggest also a visit to Tykkimäen Sauna and Restaurant Lammenranta, they're couple km's away from Kouvola city centre 😄👍🏼

Nice to have you here. Come visit again in the summer when even the ferry is in operation. 😄

You can get to Repovesi from Helsinki by the train between 29.4 - 28.10. (Helsinki - Hillosensalmi, there should be bus waiting on the station to take you to the start of the trail at least on weekends)

Yes there are some big signs on the border of the military area. I have visited the Repovesi national park with a few friends a couple of times and every time we hiked the longest trail spread across few days of hiking, really beautiful place during the summer and unbelievably nice lakes to swim around in. "Olhava" is the highest place in Repovesi and has some extraordinary views on a clear day. The "Olhava" "mountain" also is a really popular rock-climbing destination and the camp site near "Olhava" is usually really populated during the summertime with rock climbers!

What a nice video, now I want to visit that park too!
I had a tip for getting better prices for hotels btw, that I forgot to post on the previous video: So, you can use those booking sites to easily look for options. When you find the most appealing option though, call that hotel directly, instead of booking from the site. Those booking services take a middle man's cut and hike the prices, but if you call the hotel and inquire about free rooms and a quote, you may get a way lower price that way.

Next time you should take the Korpin Kierros (raven trail) which will take you to Olhavanvuori, which is a stunning rock with a 50 meter vertical cliff face that rises up from the water below. When I was a kid we used to fish some ahven from there and cook them on a stick over the fire. Still the best fish I've ever had after 30 years.

I’ve been watching Dave Cad for a while now, because I am making the trip to Finland myself. Tomorrow, actually. This has given me practical information that I can use. Moi, Dave!
