Philippines' Kanlaon volcano erupts, prompting evacuations

The Kanlaon volcano on Negros Island in the Philippines erupted on Tuesday, April 8, accompanied by 14 volcanic earthquakes which prompted the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) to issue a level three alert, urging residents within a six kilometre radius of the volcano’s summit to evacuate.
