Yall make a good point about if you want to see Konami come back and put in the effort that we were blessed with in the 90s and early 2000s, it starts with financially supporting projects like this one. I miss the days when konami had a competitive attitude about trying to have a GOAT game/series under every major genre. Right now it feels like they're limping back to the scene at 1% full strength. If they lose money from the games they put out in 2024, theyre going to give it up completely.

I also noticed this on Amazon and was quite surprised to see the Konami logo on the box art.

so crazy i love shmups and i buy 'em all yet im sooo bad at 'em
just for dariusburst 32:9 ratio i bought a samsung superwide & official taito x stick
yet..i get maybe to the 2nd level of any shmup..but i dont do continues..at i stop
if i were to approach it like unlimited arcade tokens/quarters i could do better..i'll try

This game has a lot of people split on opinions. Either they love it or hate it. I personally lean on it being more good than bad. Very good in fact, but far from perfect or being the second coming of shmup-christ.

I collect and play a lot old and new shmups: Gradius, R-Type, Raiden, Batsugun, Ikaruga, Dangun Feveron, Twin Cobra, Dimension Drive and dozens of others. If its physical, name it and I've probably played it. Cygni to me is roughly a 7.5/10, bordering on an eight if it had just a bit more to it. There's enough wrong with it to keep it firmly in 7's territory but no.lower than that. That said, I still think this game is great to play for casual and intermediate players. It also looks damn gorgeous, though graphics don't make or break a game at all. Pros and hardcores that played every shmup under the sun will think anything lower than a 9/10 is garbage so ignore them. If you want a trully terrible example of a shmup then play Space Blaze. That game is pretty terrible. Cygni is nowhere near that bad. Not by a long shot. Its just a mixed bag for some.
