How to Fix Screen Flickering on a Mac

In this video, I’ll explain why your MacBook screen is flickering.

Here are seven things you can check if your screen flickers:
Restart your Mac
Update macOS
Clear caches and system junk
Reset the PRAM (you’ll need to use the Command-Option-P-R command)
Adjust Battery settings
Run maintenance scripts
Disable True Tone (for 2018 Macs and newer)

Thank you so much for the steps and a hope in trouble, I was freaked out .tried step 1-restart, step 3 clean Mac junk clean, flickering was nearly gone.At last tried command + option + p + r now its completely gone. Also ran maintenance scripts on cleanmymac

Yeah ok but what about purple and cyan lines on the screen?

Turning off "Enable filters" in "Accessibility" stopped the flickering immediately; have heard reports that turning it on stopped the problem; it seems Mac OS is often incapable of handling alterations to the set up.

i just bought clean my mac and its not working

After trying all of the methods (flickering is the same as in the video but in black), my screen is still flickering but only if there is no video playing. If I talk to someone on facetime or watch a video, the flickering stops but as soon as the video stops, the flickering starts again. Is there something else I can do?
