Time exists as long as any process exists. Whenever it is, if ever, all things become equal and nothing in the universe is in a state of change, then time will no longer exist. So from the “big bang” to equalization, is the existence of time.
At least that’s how I have always seen it.

I've always thought similarly. There is no way to define time without using the units of time itself, which is circular reasoning at its finest.

Time [Chronos]is a word that was coined in ancient Greece in 700 B.C.E to describe the sensation of the passing of the clocks units of measurement that people had been experiencing for quite a while. Because this sense of "time passing" is in recognition of the invented units it thus renders "Time" as also being merely an invention. If it was the case that it was an actual fabric of the cosmos that would mean that thousands of years ago someone put a stick in the ground to track the day and inadvertently accessed some 4th dimension.

Time is the confirmation of the presence of a sequence in the happenings in the universe. An apparent restoration of a local earlier state also happens at a future time becoming present and then past.

It is, however, impossible for the entire universe to revert to an earlier state, however miniscule that reversal state is. In fact, it is even impossible for the universe to hold its present state unchanged however miniscule that extent of holding is.

EVENTS HAPPEN, AND PERCEIVING THAT HAPPENING REQUIRES THE CONCEPT OF TIME.

The very quantum of time perceived in that happening is relative to the various fundamental factors of space and its ingredients.
