We saw the 12-year-old at the Atlanta open during the qualifiers as a ball boy. We all started geeking out in the stands. It was fun!!! Way more interested that he was there than the actual match lol

I just love how the young player returns every ball so calmly and with so much power. He makes tennis look easy! The young man has a great future in tennis!

I don't think I've ever seen WBP try so hard in a match, I guess he REALLY didn't want to lose to a 12-year old. He was good-natured about it though, as expected.

I once played this exact match in my 20s. The kid didn't out-hit me; he simply never missed. It was a humbling lesson that changed my approach to the game.

Great fun to watch!!! The more tired and frustrated Wannabe got, the harder he tried to bang winners....but he doesn't have the skills to keep the ball in. Again, great fun to watch. Do it again!

The alternative to winning the game via "3 amazing down-the-line back hand winners and an ace" is to cut down on the rainstorm of unforced errors.

WBP lost to a more fit, young and consistent player. But those flat groundstrokes are wild.

Great match. Wannabe looked like the first person who was actually going all out on Simon. He hit some incredible shots! Started off hot with the backhand, but making a few too many errors on the forehand. Match was closer than most people in the comments seem to think. Don't give him those late calls though, calls gotta come quick or play goes on. Other people in the park probably thought someone's dog names Biron got loose with how often he was yelling at himself haha.

His feel for the ball IS amazing. That’s what happens when you started toying the ball at 2 years old. He said that when he played the MEP.

How well does the 12YO type? KBW from the tennis holy land(Alberta) could be next. Just have him text his type of shot, speed and placement to 12YO.

This made me smile. I was 50 when I played an 11yrs Jr player from Egypt. I ran and ran and

The young man wasn't just beating WBP. He was toying with him with all those drop shots and watching the WBP self-destruct with all the errors. Great talent

I'm noticing that the Jr. player has a perfect ball toss on every serve. Impressive! 👍

Consistency beats Power if there is enough defense to draw sufficient errors from the power player to offset his winners... The kid had plenty of defense and also a few crafty shots to win this match.
WBP tried to do too much too often to be consistent. But, I think he had to because he wasn't going to out steady the kid. His power didn't seem to bother the kid into a bunch of errors which WBP was counting on, I think.
Very entertaining...

Entertaining to watch, would love to see WBP have more slice and drops into his style. Those flat shots can't always save him

"I got socks that are older than 12." - I appreciate your sense of humor :) BTW, solid two-handed backhand.

Great adjustment by Byron in 2nd set. He played steady when he was off balance and then went Kyrios when he was in good position. Great hands. Got a few games with that smart play. Byron had alot of trouble with low balls to his backhand. If he steup for those shots & bend a bit more and use his body vs just arms could be a gamechanger, 7-8 errors a set? Maybe the stats gentleman can chime in on that Great matchup. Simon vs the Boss next please.
