In 2013, as the ongoing conflict in Syria led to a massive influx of refugees into neighboring countries, including Iraq, many sought refuge in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Despite the relative stability and security of the area, the refugees faced challenging living conditions and limited support.

When Hawta Asad, the father of two Kurdish siblings singers, Kazhe Hawta and Muhamad Hawta, approached me to create a music video for their rendition of the traditional Kurdish song "Oy Falak," I suggested that we go to the Kawergosk refugee camp to document the singers' experiences living as refugees for one day.

Together with another cameraman, Alan, we spent a day at the camp, capturing the Hawta siblings' emotional reactions to the living conditions and the hardships the refugees faced. The resulting video clip was a powerful portrayal of the human impact of the refugee crisis, which resonated with viewers and brought attention to the plight of refugees in the Kurdistan area.

As the director of the video clip, I volunteered my time and resources to create a meaningful and impactful piece that helped raise awareness and support for the refugees. The project was a testament to the resilience and humanity of the refugees, and it remains an important reminder of the ongoing struggles faced by displaced people around the world
