James Earl Jones took a drop in rank to play a Sergeant Major in this movie. He was a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army with a Ranger tab. This man stacked bodies on and off screen.

I've never seen this movie, but I can tell you that Sergeant Major went back to his office and proceeded to laugh his d*ck off all night about that wife crack. If his wife was a respectable woman, that soldier would be DEAD 😅

Soldier lucked out that SGM's wife is a dependa. You see, this entire interaction isn't outside the realm of possibility in the army. It 99% hinges on what kind of wife that SGM has. The remaining 1% is what kind of military bearing SGM has. And I promise you, he didn't get to the rank of SGM without 'military bearing'
