Cross border payment within Africa is set to see a major boost as five more banks sign up to the Pan-African Payment and Settlement System. The payment system introduced under the African continental free trade agreement, AfCFTA launched more than a year ago. It allows traders within the continent to transfer and receive money in their local currencies- cutting back on reliance on third currencies like the US dollar.
