When you have a traumatic brain injury, there are no scars. Because no one can see the damage that you sustained, they just assume that you are just fine. It’s so frustrating to try and remember everyday words when talking. I finally decided to just say, “sorry, I have a brain injury and I can’t think of the word I want”. People are so kind, they say “no problem, we’ll work it out”. This is without exception for over 20 years! Blessings to all of you that have made me feel accepted and “normal “.

Scars are beautiful. They tell stories. Embrace them. I have a large scar just like that running from my neck to the crack of my butt. I love wearing halter tops with my hair pulled up so everyone can see.

Mine is pretty similar. I threw my arm out to catch myself during a fall and shattered my humerus bone about an inch above my elbow joint. The bone broke into 3 pieces, and the smallest piece embedded itself inside the nerve cluster. It was so unstable that the EMTs had to brace and wrap the arm before moving me because the broken pieces kept shifting, which created a high risk of them slicing through the nerve and artery. I had emergency surgery as soon as the orthopedic surgeon could get to the hospital. It took him 6 hours to put all of the pieces back together, and I was incredibly lucky to avoid any nerve damage. I now have a 9 inch titanium rod and a dozen titanium screws inside of my arm.

I have a big scar in the middle of my neck from a tracheotomy. And 3 big scars, 2 on my head & 1 on my stomach from a "final destination" type accident that happened at work at a commercial construction job site. I'm still here, And u all aswell. Thank God, don't take life 4 granted. It can be taken away in a blink of an 👁️.

The tapestry of life has many threads of different colors. As we go through life making our stories.. like the weaving of a tapestry . To embrace, share those experiences one to another. Good and bad as life touches another along the way . And if you're lucky in the end . You have a beautiful tapestry of life's memories

Some people really think we stare at scars and judge. Most of the time, we don’t even look and we definitely don’t judge

I’d love a massive scar like that. Scars show you’ve been through things and survived, that you’ve healed and kept on going through it.

Use your mind to do the best that you can. I have a broken hip with two screws and I have to deal with this everyday. So I exercise to overcome. That scar will be there . But you can still overcome. May God Bless You😢😢😢😢

My husband was shot by a grasshopper commercial mower . It shot out a piece of concrete the size of a large grapefruit and broke his arm with a compound fracture (I saw his bones ) he has 3 screws holding the bones together and a large piece of metal with 6 more screws. After the repair he had a railroad track down the back of his arm . In another spot he had a long dark skinny bruise. We came to the conclusion that was where it was creased while opened for surgery. He ended up with nerve damage so that wasn’t the end of our ordeal but they fixed him up good in forte Wayne Indiana orthopedics 💕

I remember one of the first thought when they told me I had thyroid cancer was omg I’m gonna have a giant ugly scar across my neck. Well now I’m 4 years out and I wear it proudly and no longer cover it up. Good and bad days with my healthy, its been an uphill battles but it reminds me of all I’ve over come. Wear your scars proudly folks. The human body is capable of so many amazing things, it deserves grace and unconditional love.

She’s pretty, I understand the scar thing but honestly it makes you look interesting because now you have a cool story about your arm and were able to get surgery to fix it.
