Zorin OS 15 Lite Review | New Linux User, Old Computer?

It's time to review the lightweight Xfce 4.14 toting Zorin OS 15 Lite Edition. Polish, performance, and excellent software support for all those users abandoning Windows 7 in January 2020 and looking for an alternative.

I've been waiting for Zorin 15 Lite for a while. So happy it's finally here. My mother in law has been using Zorin 12 and loves it. Runs great on an old dual core Pentium.

Many thanks for this. I have an old HP laptop that goes "nutz" on Linux Lite when using Firefox. If you use the wheel to scroll down through a page to fast, the text and images and text shrink to an unbelievable level. This seems to happen mostly with Linux distros and not Windows. So today I'm going to download Zorin OS Lite and see if it makes any difference. The problem doesn't seem to appear with Chromium, Chrome (downloaded straight from Google), or Opera. Still Linux Lite is DEFINITELY keeping the machine running MUCH better than it ever has. THANK YOU for all of the work you do for us Linux newbies!!! Regards from Northern Indiana, USA!

Zorin OS has to be the best Linux distro and I don't get why more people don't use it. If you're a Windows or Mac user then it's the perfect Linux substitute. People say it's dumbed down or too simple but I feel it has an amazing balance between user friendliness, design and features that most distros can't seem to accomplish.

LOL. I was dithering about whether or not to replace my Zorin Core partition with Zorin Lite... now I definitely will! Nice review... all parts of it :) I think that the GTK3 component of Xfce 4.14 will increase RAM usage, but it's still good and it's still fast! My snap packages don't usually open that fast the first time... wondering if that might possibly be Virtual Box? Thanks, IG, love your work.

I am using it, and was excited at first, but too many of the available apps are outdated. I am not a programmer, so I cannot "build" newer versions.

My main distro is Australian based in terms of original origin. The great puppy Linux!!! I use fossapup!!😀

Your review is fantastic!! I also use zorin16 but I am definitely installing 15.3. I like xfce and zorin's version looks absolutely friendly for newcomers and window crossovers. I would remove software I don't use like pitivi, gimp and libreoffice to start with but having used xfce distros like MX, I'd have to say zorin is right up there with a beautiful, functional and inviting distro!! Well done.

You could compare it with Linux Lite or Mint XFCE, and try some aero-like customization. The last 32bit version of Lite (3.8) uses 200MB of ram at startup, and is still supported.

Lightweight and looks great out of the box, If I was just starting up on Linux I would have fallen in love with zorin OS for sure.

Just installed Zorin onto my Atomic pi test machine, works like a charm, will do more tests to see how speedy it is. Groovy distro.

Iḿ watching this from 12.4 lite zorin installed next to xp on my old pc. Hopefully 15 will run just as smoothly as this version when I install it tonight.

Never really used zorin.
Linux mint xfce is pretty light and user friendly

Thanks. This is the first Linux channel that actually helps a non-tech savvy Windows user migrate, instead of going on & on about how great Linux is but not showing anything to stand for it.

enso & zorin is most beautiful xfce impl, hope that other xfce based distro can follow these type of layout.
