Those horsepower numbers are comparable to a Harley Davidson 1200 and this bike is a 650. I love the sound it makes. The Old Britt bikes had a lot of soul but rarely evolved much over the life of the model, most changes were cosmetic...With modern technology, metallurgy, and electronics they can finally become what they could have been. Hats off to the Manufacturing corporations in India for recognizing that with some modern touches the old way can still compete in the marketplace. I would never expect one of these bikes to win the TT but that really isn't the target they are aimed at. Affordable, dependable, solid motorcycles for everyday people to enjoy.

I had my modded Interceptor Dyno'd: 52.36hp @ 6.85k / 44.03 ft-lbs (59.7Nm) @ 6k. The go fast parts include: S&S Cam, Mufflers & Air Kit, free flowing headers & the PowerTronic tuner. The stock bike is definitely a lot of fun as is, and while these parts add some decent numbers, they add a lot more smiles when it comes to actual riding. The torque comes on early and stays all the way up. I loved my bike before, love it even more now.

I've done a 2400 mile trip on my continental mainly on highways and the bike never complained or even thought of giving me trouble. More than enough power for highway riding around 75mph. If you wanna go faster then boost the HP a little bit and change up your sprockets and you'll be fine

This 44 hp test makes the GT650 suck bananas, or does it? As long as it's reliable, the hp is enough for people who ride in urban and suburban areas. Hell, It costs $5999, is a 650 twin and 90% of riders use their bikes less than 1000 miles/yr. One of the BEST looking bikes of 2019...

Because of covid, in Europe we are not getting enough being shipped in. I reserved mine weeks ago, and I don't have a delivery date at all

Hey, for like $5, 500 that is good enough, I would like one to put beside my M1100 for the days I don't want to get to work quickly ;)

The average cc size in the world is probably around 185cc's. In many parts of the world a "large" bike is a 250cc single and many people think it's excessive for their daily commute or utility needs. 125cc bikes in India often times carry the rider and 2 additional passengers or the rider and up to an additional 200 pounds of water, grain, goods...

Thank you for the video Cycle World. Some of the comments could have been headed off if the units were specified. Perhaps showing power in hp rather than the metric alternative of kW should have alerted me to the torque being in lb ft rather than the Nm that I'm more used to but you did clear that up in the comments so no biggy.

I passionately hated RE bikes.
Because
they sounded bad.
Unstable.
Unsafe.

But the GT650 is nothing like another other RE bikes.

Best RE bikes right now to buy.
1. GT 650
2. interceptor 650
3. Himalayan.

I have to say, that seems pretty stout. In the '70s, *some* manufacturers provided bikes that were "ringers". Having said that, if this is a true production line example, for freaking $5, 500, if that weird handling glitch that some of the testers mentioned during the release is fixed, Royal Enfield may have a world-beater here.

Saw REs today in person for the 1st time. Really cool. Not sure if I would enjoy a motor with…..so little power. But they do look great.

Interesting that the gt gets 2 hp and 2 lb-ft more on the dyno then the regular INT.

That bike costs around just 3.90 lakh in india which is 4, 500 dollars 😂 meanwhile if same bike was produced in usa and sold in india it would have cost 10 lakh approx 12, 000 dollars 😂
