after riding for 35 years and owning several bikes, I have a toolbox full of tools that I no longer remember what bike they were for.

A long time ago I bought a cable tensioner tool for setting brake and derailleur cable tension. I hardly ever use it for that purpose. But, I do use almost every time I use zip ties to make sure they are as tight as possible.

Schwalbe Tire Levers are the tool which improved my life quality. Clip for mounting new tires is like having a third hand!

I saw that old schwinn kickstand tool used for sale second hand, I did not know that those kick stands could be serviced before that!

Designing an making custom tools was almost as much fun as the build itself when I got my start in 1999. I got a spinsorship to run Mountain Cycle when I was a Jr in high school. I was, at the same time, a machine shop student. Need to realign the rear traingle mounts, "we" got a tool for that. Need to bore out for larger bushings "we" got a tool for that, Need to chase the BB threads, "we" have a tool for that. It was good times.

Me: Instantly wonders which of my local bike shops owns a DT-5.2.

Praxis did what SRAM should have done. The extractor caps are standard across their range and install with a cassette tool. Pin spanners are good but a tool everyone already has is better.

I learned how to build wheels from these two guys four years ago. Nineteen so far, four for my mates bikes. If you're into building your own bikes, building wheels means fully custom and often rare or unique.

I've lost a SRAM self extractor, used two small allen keys to put the new one in, was very fiddly.

I still have one of those pin spanners - been a long time since it’s come out to be used

Park CNW-2, not often needed but my god it's useful when you do.

How about a park tool to break the bead on tough 29x2.6 tire (trail use)?
I've had to resort to using the opposite end of a park chain whip cassette remover at home after the wood block and foot couldn't pry it loose. I will say it's very reliable and easy, just too big and heavy for taking on the trail.

The TNS-4 is a brilliant tool but to be honest you can't beat the PP-1.2 for a variety of tasks. I once removed some rusty headset bearings with mine.

Remember a few years back when we had conical washers on the brake mount bolts and the surfaces didn‘t have to be flush? Where did they go?

All this talk about crank extractors, why doesn't Park Tool make a tool kit with the half dozen or so threads so any bike mechanic can remove those cranks?
