This is the most thorough and detailed video about how to play while seated. Even better for using a Les Paul as demonstration. I love everything about this guitar, except that I always found it annoying to play it sitting down. Thanks for taking the time to help us out.

Holy cow my guy. Every time I sat down and played I always found it frustrating, like I couldn't hold my pick properly and my fretting wrist killing me. Years and years like this. You have just made everything 1000% easier. Thanks sooo much! Even after 1 session the difference is amazing.

Been playing for 7 months, discovered this 2 months ago and this is the single best tip I’ve received. This position has not only been more comfortable to my wrists and shoulder, but has allowed me to start playing standing up too without it feeling awkward. Why isn’t this more common?

It’s amazing how many videos I had to go through to find just this one that taught me exactly what I was looking to learn.

So simple but genius. I just bought a Flying V and have been focused on adjusting how I hold my guitars sitting so that I could eventually stand-up and play them. This video connects so many dots. Thanks.

This is important. Thanks! I don‘t get why everyone suggests resting the guitar on the right leg. I‘m a graduated cellist and to me it feels impossible to play like that. I always play my guitar on the left leg, and mostly elevated, too. Finally a guitar player who feels it the same way.

Best and most thorough video about right guitar posture. It really helped my rehearsal time and free of back pain. Thanks.

Probably some of the best information related to the guitar without playing a note. Good posture now can save you a lot of body aches and pains in the future. Cheers

Hahaha, I have been playing in this position as it is natural and comfortable but seen so often guitarists resting guitar on right leg which is very awkward for me. I really began to doubt myself and wonder if I was doing something wrong. This lesson was affirming and quite a surprise that I was ok...

I’m a raw beginner just got a lookalike Les Paul this week, didn’t realise how heavy it would be.
You video hit the right spot, been struggling try to learn sitting with posture foot rests and guitar position.
I came on YouTube looking for footrest recommendations and spotted you and clicked on right away,
though this guy might have something useful to say and I was right, so scrap the footrest idea give your method a try,
Like the idea of resting my Les Paul between open legs just like yours. Thanks Kurt.

Thank you so much, my main instrument is a classical guitar and I can never get comfortable playing the electric guitar. I really appreciate your tutorial because now I can hold my electric guitar in a position that’s more comfortable and is not that different than what I’m used to.

I do a lot of fast alternate and downpicking extreme metal stuff, and will get a sore bicep in my picking arm during intense sections over a period of time... Switching to the left leg let my picking hand/arm extend a little bit more and wasn't as confined as it was when on the right leg. This has helped endurance wise and I've even lowered my strap a tad to match this, helping this issue when it pops up the last song or two of a set.

You need to study Alexander Technique, your back isn't straight when you do this.
A straight back has a curve like an S, what matters is the position of your shoulders, neck and skull on top with your chin slightly in and that your hips are curved slightly in also.
Good tips on LP posture though. I play classical and LP hours a day, your tips on repetitive posture and technique are great.

Thank you! New guitar player and I've been playing on my right leg. Switching to the left!
