A particle is a standing wave in the quantum field.

I wish I had the ability to truly understand that

It's fascinating that everything we see around us are vibrations in particle fields - expressions of probabilities that in certain places become probable enough to exist and we observe those as matter

Just commenting to make the algorithm recommend me this

Fairly simple: The higgs boson is proof that energy and mass can be interchangeable. Burning a log converts mass into light and heat energy and some waste. Smashing two protons and detecting 100* more mass is taking the momentum energy and converting it into mass. :)

That's the best "explanation" he could come up with. It's physics magic!

Some say those fields are still vibrating to this day.

So rare are the people that can simplify science as he just did.

Crazy that all they’re doing really is smashing particles together at high speeds and seeing what happens

I think i understand something i didn't before...
So all these particles are just various combinations of vibration that get sort of locked or tied together and in that orientation have certain effects on other fluctuations within the same vicinity causing larger structures to possibly occur which are what we call protons electrons quarks etc all just tangled together. And when we look\measure that action ties them into place rather than it being a loose knot of tangled probabilistic frequencies of varying outcomes😅
Idk if that's right at all but it was fun think think about and try to picture

❤Higgs boson is healing experience, I love that particle, today I thought of proposing hearing this❤

I have only a very basic understanding of the work accomplished at CERN, but I've machined a lot of really cool stuff for the LHC and for other projects there, and just the requirements of those parts/equipment gave me a great appreciation for what they do.

Primitive humans created photons with two sticks.

And another clarification: physicists have detected not the Higgs boson itself, but that sum of its decay products, adds up to the mass of the Higgs boson (as far as I remember)

The Higgs is heavier than a proton? Damn you physics, I am off to Wikipedia 😂

Commenting for algorithm to show more such type of videos in my feed.

Wait, how can the Highs particle can have weight, when the Highs give weight to all other particles? And what do you mean by Quantum Fluctuations? This is so weird...

Cheeky little bosson in the quantum field winked and waved.

Sigma 5 probability isn't total nonsense.
That's a one in 1.35 million chance their measurements were wrong.
Measurements in particle physics are the most accurate and precise measurements we have ever accomplished and with the highest degree of certainty.
