Billie Jean Orff Arrangement

This is an Orff-style arrangement of Billie Jean. I have done this arrangement with grade 5, 6, and 7's. If you have a solid Orff/xylophone program at your school I'm sure that some savvy grade 4's would be into it.

With younger players or at the beginning of the unit, I organize them into stationsfor each instrument. For example: "hi-hat" x1, "snare" x1, bass bar x1, bass xylophone x4, and soprano xylophone x4. Depending on how many students you have and the instrumentation available, it never hurts to have any remaining students play the steady beat (this can also be done on a hand drum, patting their laps, or clapping hands).

Play through the arrangement 1-2 times and then rotate students!

Great way to introduce young learners to drone, ostinato, syncopation (16ths).
