I watched other videos but they never mentioned the # in the hyperlink, so I kept repeating the process for almost an hour. Thank God, I found yours and you were able to explain step-by-step how to do it. It worked! Thank YOU!!

Thanks for the video.

For Windows users on MS Word 2007, I followed your instructions and found on Windows it a bit easier.

After you created the Bookmark; on Windows you Highlight the text you want as a Hyperlink and Right Click, select Hyper Link, A place in this Document and all your book marks are listed there, you just click the one you want. Done.

Saves you from having to type out or cut and past with # in front, yadada.

Also, for anyone on Windows Word who does not like having to Ctrl+Click the link to go to it... just open up Word Options, Advanced, uncheck Ctl+Click option. Done.

For those of you who came here trying to find out how to make a hyperlink point to a bookmark in the document, jump to 4:39, or, for those of you who need less hand holding, the "Link to" text in the "Insert Hyperlink" dialogue box needs to be #nameofbookmark.

Life saver! Smashwords uses Word 2007. Nowhere in my Word for Mac 2008 could I find any reference to the necessity to put # first! Now it works, many thanks.

glad to help. I had such a hard time figuring this out on my own. Once I did it was time to make a video to help others and have a reference that I could use next time I need it!

Thank you thank you. I'm trying create a policy doc that links to the appropriate templates (rather than have a load of appendices). This works like a charm!

Thank you for this! I am creating ebooks and have consulted numerous tutorials for hyperlinking within the document. This is the first one that explains the difference between a bookmark and a hyperlink, the one-word requirement in bookmark names, and the # sign requirement for hyperlinks. Thank you!!!
