Το MedINA στην εκπομπή της ΕΡΤ3, 'Περίμετρος'

ℹ️ Κατά τη διάρκεια της Επιστημονικής Εβδομάδας στον ποταμό Σαραντάπορο, ο Δημήτρης Παπαγεωργίου, Υπεύθυνος του έργου "Ri-Connect: Ο ποταμός Αώος ως διασυνοριακός οικολογικός διάδρομος" και Τοπικός Συντονιστής στο MedINA, φιλοξενήθηκε στην ΕΡΤ3 και στην εκπομπή "Περίμετρος", παρουσιάζοντας τους σκοπούς και τις δράσεις της Επιστημονικής Εβδομάδας και μεταφέροντας το όραμα του MedINA για ένα ενιαίο καθεστώς προστασίας της λεκάνης απορροής του ποταμού Αώου/Vjosa με τη δημιουργία ενός Διασυνοριακού Εθνικού Πάρκου Άγριου Ποταμού, το οποίο θα είναι μοναδικό στην Ευρώπη.

Με δεδομένο ότι η θεσμική θωράκιση της περιοχής είναι ακόμη ελλιπής, στόχος της Επιστημονικής Εβδομάδας στον Σαραντάπορο ήταν η ανάδειξη της περιβαλλοντικής αξίας της περιοχής, εν όψει της απειλής κατασκευής δεκάδων μικρών υδροηλεκτρικών έργων που θα κατακερματίσουν τον υδρολογικό του χαρακτήρα και θα επηρεάσουν ανεπανόρθωτα τη βιοποικιλότητα και τις ανθρώπινες κοινωνίες που ζουν γύρω από το ποτάμι.

During the Scientific Week on the Sarantaporos River, Dimitris Papageorgiou, Project Manager of the project "Ri-Connect: The Aoos River as a transboundary ecological corridor" and Local Coordinator in MedINA, was hosted by ERT3 and the show "Perimetros", presenting the aims and activities of the Scientific Week and conveying MedINA's vision for a unified protection regime for the Aoos/Vjosa River basin through the creation of a Transboundary Wild River National Park, which will be unique in its kind in Europe.

Given that the institutional protection of the area is still incomplete, the aim of the Scientific Week in Sarantaporos was to highlight the environmental value of the area, in view of the threat of the construction of dozens of small hydroelectric power plants that threaten the hydromorphological integrity of the river and will irreversibly affect biodiversity and the human communities living along its banks.
