You had your auto gain on...which is why your image wasn't changing much...

The science is easy: you take a crop sensor, you take a fullframe lens, take the whole fullframe image: more light then you would get in just the crop factor field of view, and focus it with a lens onto the crop sensor size frame. Bigger field of view captures more light is more sensitivity is boosting speed. Just as a magnifying glass focusses more light on a single point so you can burn paper. Oh and auto gain? haha Dude, you are definitely never getting my business, you are clueless haha.
