For me you could say it worked cause shortly after I tried one of these my mom took us to Darien Lake and I got to wear a swimmable mermaid tail there. Loved the attention I got from little girls who thought I was a real mermaid and my mom even carried me around so I didn’t have to remove the tail just so I could keep the magic alive. Good memories.

I remember when I was a kid I searched up “mermaids” and the first thing that came up was “mermaid’s curse” and I read it and at the end it said “at exactly 12:00 tonight, you will become a mermaid. For this reason, you must sleep in water tonight or you will unfortunately dry out. I told my mom and she wouldn’t let me sleep in the bathroom, so I cried myself to sleep that night thinking that I wouldn’t be alive in the morning.

Be a good swimmer.
Get a tail and monofin, get comfortable in it, practice swimming in it.
Work on underwater tricks.
Practice breath-hold.
Practice posing on land and in water.
Make or buy mermaid accessories for your costume.
