2019 Volkswagen Jetta GLI: Exactly like the GTI, but different - 4K

The new VW GLI is, basically, a sedan version of the automaker's awesome GTI hot hatch, using many of the same parts and go-faster technologies on its longer, four-door chassis. The GLI is not just a GTI with a trunk, however.

You really can't go wrong with anything on the MQB platform.
I love my Audi S3.

For a new car, this is good value and performance for the money.

I would buy the GLI, hands down! Way better deal. I'm waiting until the 2020 models to come out to see if the Autobahn will have the adaptive chassis, when the 35 anniversary year sales are over. That's my story and I'm sticking with it. 😁

Great review. I'm still on the fence as there is only 2 grand difference at the dealers around here.

I noticed this GLI has no engine hood gas lifts, is this specific to just this generation or to all North American Jettas?
I am from Europe and I've owned a 2008 Jetta Sportwagen (built in Mexico and sold as Golf station wagon, here) and it featured engine hood gas lifts.

Wtf is going on at vw.??? Anton I can honestly tell you those options are on the Canadian models which obviously come from the same factory. It's weird and silly VW would not provide them for the American market. However and this is a big one. The Canadian GTI has to be ordered in a $45k spec to get a sunroof!! A gli loaded 35th anniversary is $35k after my particular incentives. Funny eh $10k is a huge margin!
