"Sugaree" by the Grateful Dead, covered by Reina del Cid and Toni Lindgren

Toni might be a bit of a Dead-head -- she introduced me to this song a while back, and now I love playing it. It was between this one or "Tennessee Jed," which we will do at some point. Keep those requests coming, btw!

Take guitar lessons from Toni Lindgren!

Lyrics to "Sugaree":

When they come to take you down
When they bring that wagon 'round
When they come to call on you
And drag your poor body down

There's just one thing I ask of you
Just one thing for me
Please forget you know my name
Darlin' Sugaree

Shake it, shake it Sugaree
Just don't tell them that you know me
Shake it, shake it Sugaree
Just don't tell them that you know me

You thought you was the cool fool
And never could do no wrong
Had everything sewn up tight
How come you lay awake all night long?

There's just one thing I ask of you
Just one thing for me
Please forget you know my name
My darlin' Sugaree

Shake it, shake it Sugaree
Just don't tell them that you know me
Shake it, shake it Sugaree
Just don't tell them that you know me

Shake it up now Sugaree
Maybe I'll meet you at the jubilee
And if that jubilee don't come
Maybe I'll just meet you on the run

There's just one thing I ask of you
Just one thing for me
Please forget you knew my name
My darlin' Sugaree

Shake it, shake it Sugaree
Just don't tell them that you know me
Shake it, shake it Sugaree
Just don't tell them that you know me

Shake it, shake it Sugaree
Just don't tell them that you know me
Shake it, shake it Sugaree
Just don't tell them that you know me

Simply In so many What a gem to have discovered these two magnificent Ladies who both ooze endless amounts of talent!!!! I could listen to this over and over, hmmm., just Like I did in the old days with the "Dead" rocking my cassette player in my car/van going from one venue to Be Well Ladys and Peace!!!! Toni you remind me so much of a young Jerry Garcia in how you hold/rock/sway your body as you jam out! Thank You Lady's, this 66-year-old man has to return to this version over and over!!!

Elle is rock solid she never overplays or tries to oversing. Toni is magical. Every time I see Toni I want the guitar she's playing because it fits so perfectly then I remind myself it's the guitarist that brings magic to the guitar.

I have only discovered these wonderful musicians in the last couple of months. Many commenters have attested to what a pleasure they are. Just one to add one thing I'm not sure that I've seen: The chemistry between Elle and Toni is such a delight to see. Their banter suggests such fondness for working and playing with each other.

There's something about Toni's guitar picking that makes it irresistibly appealing. It's hard to find the right words. What about "tuneful"? This is an inadequate description. She's good.

I felt it would not be right to leave without saying thank you.

Even though I'm 70, I still play drums in my band and I can recognize talented musicians like Toni and Reina as true. It is a pleasure to listen to them, while they delight us with rare pieces of absolute skill with voice and guitar, I am sure that if we gave them a box of biscuits, these two phenomena would be able to play with that too! They are really good artists, in this world of fake musicians who play accompanied by MP3s, overdubs and embellishments in the control room, they don't, they are good at them and in a disconcerting way. Two beautiful faces, clean of good girls, perfect voices and instruments if I were 50 years younger I would travel from Italy to the USA just to be able to play with them ...

Over last 12 hours, I've watched (almost) every video by these two brilliant performers and still haven't figured out who I love more.

I love watching the body language of a lead guitarist that really get's into playing a song. You tell Toni loves jamming this song.
