Victor Wembanyama is having a monster second season and the NBA should take notice. Wemby has not only looked like the frontrunner for the Defensive Player of the Year Award but he is also starting to look like an MVP contender, as he's posting elite numbers after a slow start to the season. Wembanyama has been scoring at a rate that is at par with the best of the NBA such as Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetoukounmpo, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Luka Doncic. The San Antonio Spurs are also looking like real playoff hopefuls thanks to Wembanyama and his dominant play, as well as a strong supporting cast with veteran point guard Chris Paul and Harrison Barnes, as well as young core pieces Stephon Castle, Jeremy Sochan, and Devin Vassell. But is Wembanyama ready to make an All-NBA team?

Wembanyama is averaging close to 4 blocks per game which would be the most in an NBA season for a very long time. But the French Unicorn has also scored at least 40 points on 3 different occasions this season, joining Jokic, Giannis, and SGA among the only players in the league to do that this season. With Luka Doncic missing his chance on an MVP run, can Wembanyama actually replace him and make the All-nba first team? Or will Wembanyama need more help from the Spurs front office? Should San Antonio make a trade, potentially going for players such as De'Aaron Fox or Zach Lavine?

Players such as Anthony Edwards are showing potential as the NBAs next stars but Wembanyama is putting up much better and more impactful numbers this season. The NBA trade season has opened but what will be the next move for the San Antonio Spurs? In this video, let's look into the 2nd season dominance of Victor Wembanyama and how this is impacting the rest of the league.

Owning 2.5% of the NBA's total blocks this season is crazy

What you casuals don’t understand about the 3 shooting is he is working backwards. Polishing his weaker game knowing he is always good in the interior. Kinda genius if you ask me

Wemby is on his way to becoming the GOAT, and it's a no-speed-limit highway!

It s so interesting to watch him try new stuff out man.. last year there was a lot of alley oop, much fewer this year while some plays are unstoppable .
I guess they re just trying different things to get him the largest arsenal asap.
Piece by piece ❤
I see him growing his game further by the end of the season.
It d be fun if the Spurs happen to get a play-in chance so we can watch him have a go😈

"wemby doesnt have the flashiest bag offensively" made me wanna make a highlight video bro. his handle is still too loose, but i can't let you say he doesnt have a bag, bro pulls some insane offensive moves almost every night

As a big Spurs fan who watches every game, Wemby is still so unpolished and not even close to his potential on offence. Sometimes he doesn't quite know what he wants to do, will take a while to make decisions, doesn't always catch strong and hold his position.

Just wait until he gets more comfortable and he's going to be averaging 30+ easy I think.

Wemby’s offensive ceiling will rely on two main factors: teammates and coaching. His numbers should already be higher but his teammates brick so many open looks or just don’t get the ball to him when he’s open. On the coaching end, it will boil down to how patient they are with Wembys progression. As long as the Spurs aren’t contenders I think you’ll see them be more than willing to allow him to explore the sandbox and learn on the fly.

Quick note on EPM: the stat is now broken into two tiers. Estimated EPM looks at the players history to predict their impact going forward (which is what was shown here.) Actual EPM looks at just what they've done this season. In terms of Actual EPM, Wemby is already #3 in the league, behind only SGA and Jokić

There 2 people that come to mind when I think about superstar in their second year. LeBron James and Michael Jordan. (Maybe Kobe Bryant but considering he was a benchwarmer his first season might be pushing it.)
