Lottery Exploit Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door Nintendo Switch

This video will show you an exploit for the Happy Lucky Lottery in Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door remake. Now that the game is on the Nintendo Switch it will be much faster to earn all of the prizes including the Power Plus Badge and the Lucky Day Badge.

Pro tip, if you want to cheat the lottery but then set your clock back to normal afterwards, there's a way to do so without getting caught. All you have to do is change the date AFTER claiming the Lucky Day badge (or the Zess Dynamite if you do this more than once for some reason), but BEFORE he gives you a new ticket. This is only possible in the remake because you can press the Switch's home button mid-dialogue, whereas changing the Gamecube's clock required turning the whole game off.

Out of all the things the game retained, this lottery system had to be one of them. Realistically, no one is going to play a file for THAT long.

...Huh. That's interesting that it _queues_ the prize wins. On GCN I swear you had to somehow _guess the_ *_exact day_* to advance to in the range, or you missed your shot entirely.

Also: in-universe, Mario is just standing there like a statue for 335 days, and considering the Thousand-Year Door's Seal was _already weakening_ in the thousandth year when the game begins, the Shadow Queen took over the world while you were doing this.

Not positive it worked yet, he says the new ticket takes effect tomorrow, but I got curious about something. I won 1st place and tried re-synching my switch clock just before he gave me the new ticket, figuring the game posts the date on the ticket's coding.

I've saved and reset the game and he still doesn't seem mad at me, operates as normal. Maybe breaking the lottery is avoidable in this version.

Edit: Got away with it several times to farm items so I'm assuming this works just fine. Never got mad and blocked lottery even once.

Fact: the remake allows you to win the grand prize and change the clock back without ever being recognized as cheating. When you win the grand prize, change your clock back to what you had it when you first received your ticket while Mario is holding the lucky day badge over him. The new ticket will be valid while avoiding the cheating mechanic.

Just an extra tip: If you earn the top prize, and when the Bob-Bomb is talking, you can turn the clock back to the real time, and the NPC WON'T get mad! Just make sure to reset it, before you get your replacement ticket, and you'll be fine!

I remember in the OG power plus badge is 1st prize & lucky day badge was 2nd prize i guess it makes sense in this version because lucky day lucky lottery 😂

I feel like this is something I would do late in the game since by that point you'll have a ton of money saved up in case you reset the clock and pay the 500 coin fine.
