VICKIE’S FUNDRAISING LINK:

“Not knowing what was next was the hardest”.

When the tumours on her heart were first found, Vickie did not think she’d live to see her daughter, Ruby, start school. Now, Ruby is in year two, and thriving- but Vickie struggles with the knowledge that “time will be cut short eventually”.

The drug that Vickie has been put on aims to shrink the tumours- and it has been very effective so far, reducing her tumours by 50% very quickly. However, it is an extremely difficult drug to take- resulting in extremely high temperatures, vomiting, and rashes.

In addition, it also costs $5,500 per prescription- which each lasts just 33 days. This drug is not funded by the New Zealand government, where Vickie lives- so her fight for life has been largely reliant on fundraising.

Vickie’s story is unfortunately one of many similar- and a story that drives the mission of the Conquering Cancer Campaign.

It's ridiculous how much they can charge for a drug.
