Why MOSCOW SUBWAY is just fascinating?

Let's learn some fascinating facts about Moscow Underground System.

Metro in Moscow was opened in 1935, and in its whole history it didn’t operate for only one day—(October 16, 1941) when authorities wanted to blow it up because of the threat of the capture of Moscow by fascist troops, but it never happened. During world war 2 the metro became a housing for citizens that was used as a bomb shelter, concert hall, library, school, communist party meeting point and even a maternity hospital - yes, more than 200 kids were born here.
There are lots of secret gateways and tunnels and there is a rumor that that there’s a hidden tunnel system named ‘metro 2’ - which was built on the orders of Stalin, it goes from the Kremlin to the airport and there’s a nuclear button there.
I don’t know if it’s true or just a myth, but what I do know is that if you rub a nose of a dog sculpture on the Revolution Square station- then your wishes will come true, that’s what I know for sure.

The Moscow Metro is like stepping into an architectural museum. It’s absolutely stunning.

My family used to live in Moscow and they moved to London afterwards, they said that they were so disappointed and underwhelmed by the TFL especially compared to Moscow, I’ve never been to Moscow so I thought the difference couldn’t be that big. When I saw this my jaw dropped-their transport is majestic omg.

By the Way, USSR played a lot of role in India's first Subway (Metro) construction in the 70s and 80s. My City, Kolkata (Erstwhile Calcutta) saw the first Metro Service in 1984. During it's construction Soviet ( Russian) engineer's played a crucial role in it's construction.

Yes. The Moscow metro is a special kind of art. Like in a museum. And despite the huge traffic, the trains are not very crowded even during rush hour, they run very often, I have never seen such a short interval between trains anywhere in the world.

I visited Moscow for the first time Dec 2018, with my Wife (we were not married yet, at the time). I have so many fond memories and would love to return for a second time.

We loved visiting the different Metro Stations and our hotel was above менделеевская and Новословодская stations.

Also got to rub the dog's nose. 🥰

One of the most fascinating places, and a piece of architectural art under the ground of the beautiful Moscow!

it is 100x more beautiful than any metro that I have seen in any other big city, including Paris, Berlin, Munich, Stockholm, London. Your metro looks like an art deco shopping mall or an art gallery or concert hall

It was our shared dream with my dad to visit Moscow together. We were both very much in love with the city and especially the Metro. We never managed to go, in the end. He passed away ten years ago. But my dream still lives. And he lives in my heart, forever. Thank you for sharing so many great videos about your country! ♥️

I remember during my trip to Moscow in 2019 i dedicated almost a full day to just visit all the stations i could - jump off at next stop, appreciate the architecture, rinse and repeat. Truly magnificent 😅

I’ve never been to Moscow, but St Petersburg had equally impressive aesthetics and the cleanliness of the subway blew my mind. Like you could’ve eaten off the floor, not like NYC with its noxious air and grime.

I thought that the St Petersburg metro was magnificent but the Moscow metro is out of this world - how beautiful! Using the London or Paris metro is like stepping back into the 19th century after experiencing this!

What a beautiful subway!
Nice to see the people respect it and don’t destroy it with graffiti and vandalism.

The music is Waltz from Masquerade Suite, written by one of the greatest Soviet composers Aram Khatchaturian, an Armenian by ethnicity but greatly celebrated by all Soviet musical circles. He also wrote the anthem for Armenia SSR.

When I visited in 2008 for the UCL final - the Moscow Metro was and still is one of the most beautiful things I’d ever seen.

Just mesmerising some of the stations.
