Hi guys I’m a trad archer shoot barebow. The trouble your having is mainly due to you both not having an anchor point. Try this split finger bring your draw hand back to place you middle finger to the side of your mouth and place the arrow inline with your eye so you are looking down the arrow shaft. If you do that and shoot left it’s your draw elbow not coming back enough. Use your rumboids and back tension. If your shorting right your leaning your head into your string. You should now be shooting in a straight line. If your high then aim lower and so on this is known as gap shooting. Find out what your point in distance is. Or if you want to shoot 3 fingers under this will lower your point on distance usually to around 25-30 yards on a 35-45 lb draw hope this helps. God bless and keep on hunting.

Good to see you guys giving it a try. Trad bow shooting / hunting is a HUGE commitment, but nothing compares to taking big game with the Traditional equipment. Not a big fan of "clickers" but you could both benefit from trying one out to eliminate your short draw and also help you establish a solid and consistent anchor point... Flinging arrows is always fun, seriously though it’s not hard if you’d both try an anchor point on your mouth edge. Traditional archery requires some consistent form too.

Casey you have a floating anchor. Put your midle finger in the corner of your mouth when you draw and hold for a couple seconds then pull through the release

I am a trad guy and agree with Preacher Bear, gotta find your anchor. More reference points, the better. Examples, thumb locked behind the jaw, finger tip to corner of the mouth, string touching the nose... Fred Bear was a great snap shooter, but it typically lacks consistency. 🙂
