I read all the parts of my _Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy_ movie adaptation into a cassette recorder with different voices and then played it back to another cassette recorder so I could overlay verbalised sound effects and I was pleased that the whole thing was 100 minutes (excluding credits). I then pitched my unsolicited script to Douglas Adams at a book signing and he was a really cool frood about it and didn't punch me in my face for my impertinence of reminding him he had been in development hell, at the time, for twenty-six years. The Total Perspective Vortex was at the core of my adaptation, which was part of the Christmas episode of the BBC Radio 4 series, which is the best version.

I honestly try to introduce Max's stuff to somebody new daily. It's like I'm in on this amazing inside tip that nobody else knows so I try to tell anybody who will listen.
