So, I'm turning 50 soon, looking for a career change. I've heard there is age discrimination in this industry, is it the same way on the sales end?

i have a CompTIA A+ IT cert, part of a software development degree finished; and 3 yrs bartending/serving and 2.5yrs medical recruiting. I'm starting a job as a medicare supplements sales rep soon here but I'm pretty sure I don't want to be in a call center forever. Tech sales seems good to me because I'm highly tech savvy and charismatic on the phone/good with people. Is this something i should consider grinding certificate's for and studying in my off time? I'm almost 25 and I'm disappointed that I haven't found a path for self yet.
