I'm living in New England, and my favorite apple fresh off the tree on a cool autumn day is a Sweet 16 Apple. Its sweet, juicy, crisp, and has some yellow flesh as well, also hard to beat a fresh Macoun or a Honeygold. The Sweet 16 and Honeygold usually bear fruit early. I also planted a Winesap apple in my small home orchard, this is the first year it has fruit. This tree has taken 10 years to produce as well, so looking forward to tasting soon. I will be adding a Northern Spy To My small home orchard of over a dozen or so varieties this fall as well after seeing your review. Thanks for posting, and would love to hear others favorite varieties as well.

I just discovered that a tree in my yard at my cottage is a Northern spy. I first thought it was Tompkins king but it’s a Northern spy for sure.
