The NEW Batman Game Feels Like A SLAP IN THE FACE For Arkham Fans

An Oculus Studios first party Batman game developed for the Quest 3 by a studio as talented as Camouflaj should spark nothing but excitement, but when Batman: Arkham Shadow was recently announced, the general response was one of disappointment.

While there’s every chance that the VR game will actually turn out to be good, its announcement has served as a stark reminder for how poorly WB Games has treater the Batman: Arkham series.

Not only has it’s been nearly a decade since the series’ last entry, the way WB Games chose to follow up on it was with the hugely disappointing live service failure Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Amidst all of that, the company’s decision to license out the Arkham series for a VR spinoff, even as cries for a new mainline instalment go unheard, is one that it’s hard not to get frustrated with.

It’s funny how ive been a Batman fan for 14 years and this happens it’s coming to Vr that’s going to make so many fans that are excited for that game and they will experience what Batman goes through but in 1st person and it’s probably going to change the virtual reality world forever

I agree with a lot of those points, but as much as I would love to have another great Arkham game, it might not be as simple as "Convince them to make an Arkham game." Gotham Knights and Kill the Justice League had horrible writing and incompetent level design. If the same studios were to make an Arkham game, it would likely have similar problems because they lost a lot of talented people.

Yes, I would like another good Arkham game. No, I do not trust them to make it.

I’m excited for it. I will probably never get a VR headset but I’m just excited for new lore that doesn’t butcher the universe. We were never promised a new Arkham game so why is everyone so surprised that it’s only VR. I don’t get the anger. At least the Arkham series isn’t dead.

Arkham fans are also on quest 3. If there are arkham fans that don't have a Quest 3 that want to play the game, they can buy a Quest 3 like it'd always been since the beginning of playing video games. Quest 3 deserves exclusive games, too. This isn't a new or even complicated process.

Does anyone know if Spider-Man 2 made it's money back? I adore single player games but AAA wise, if successes like Spider-Man 2 or Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth didn't make their money back, I can see why publishers might be a tad worried about going w/o some variant of extra monetization. Though they are Sony exclusives and sequels that didn't have multiplatform launches and a lower player base, it's still a pricey maneuver that publishers tend to avoid.

Batman VR could be amazing I understand why people are unhappy but Batman in VR is a great choice.
