Blind Channel has won UMK 2021 and will represent Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Blind Channel got the best points both at national audience points and at international jury points.

Danny's song is about what he wants when he dies (Sinä päivänä kun kaikki rakastaa mua basically means The day when everyone loves me). It's a very Finnish way of singing actually (we love our sad and lethargic songs here), and Danny has about 100 hit songs in Finland, and he's been performing since 1964.

The Teflon Brothers' song is about the language barrier and how love knows no language. They are one of the most popular hip hop groups in Finland. They are constantly on the top of the contemporary music charts.

And Ilta's song is a break up song where she sing who she will call now when she's lonely. She's a newcomer when it comes to Finnish music. On of the people from Blind Channel actually called her the new Anna Eriksson, who's a really famous singer here in Finland (kind of the Lara Fabian of Finland)

This year I really wish that the international juries can appreciate Blind Channel because they would be a strong contestant in Eurovision. It's so different yet very approachable to many people.

About the translations - you can turn on the subtitles on the videos and see the translation. I recommend checking the translations out, all of the lyrics this year are pretty amazing.

The translation of I love you unfortunately lacks the charm of the original lyrics. Teflon Brothers are very famous in Finland and known for having great lyrics in their hits. The song is basically about the stereotype of a finnish man having trouble expressing feelings, and the chorus of course shows an example how to express your feelings in a very simple way - by saying I love you. 

As some have already pointed out, Sinä päivänä kun kaikki rakastaa mua is about the singers/writers funeral and wishes concerning the arrangements. Kelle mä soitan is about loneliness, for example having no one to call.

I have to say well done to Finland for their diverse selection of songs this year Alex. There may be only 7 songs but I'll be watching the UMK for pure would have no issues if Blind Channel, Ilta or Oskr.
Btw if you like sad songs, wait til you hear Neev "Dancing in the Stars" from 2nd semifinal of festival da the saddest lyrics i have heard in

1. Dark side 10/10 As someone who is NOT a fan of rock. This rocks. I mean everything about this is so good I have no words.)

2. Hurt (9.5/10) (I loved looking back at first and then it grew off me and I feel like I’m kind of the only one... I think the same will happen here. The song is just BEAUTIFUL and the chorus feels like a song my mom would sing me to sleep when I was younger in a good way. But I think it’ll get a bit repetitive after some time)

3. Lie (9.5/10) (This is just really good... I really don’t know what to say I mean this is just so emotional and I think it might be my 2nd soon)

4. I love you (7.5/10) (I hate this and love this at the same time 😭 The song itself is so bad yet so catchy and it stays in my head all day...)

5. Kelle mä soitan (7.5/10) (I think I need to listen to this one more since it was the last one released but it’s really emotional and I really love her voice. It’ll probably be my 4th soon...)

6. Danny.... (6.5/10) (well this actually grew on me. The lyrics are just wow and he really just transmits the emotion... although it’s not really a song I’d listen to at all if we can even barely consider it a song...)

7. Play (6/10) (Just a way TOO basic song with a bland chorus that goes no where and I heard the song a thousand times... still catchy and all but that’s all it goes)
